Caring for Damaged Skin

Bad skin can be attributed to a variety of things, those being genetic inheritance, bad weather, or simply poor hygiene. In some cases, it may just be improper hygiene. If poor hygiene stems from a lack of hygiene, then improper hygiene results from improper care. Not everyone is created equal, least of all in their skin. Knowing and being comfortable in one's own skin can lead to lifelong rewards.

Chronic acne can be a manageable life solution. The catalyst is dry skin, and for those who suffer from acne usually suffer from skin that is either too dry or not dry enough. This can be prevented by not overdoing the routines of daily hygiene. As a tip, splash the face with cold water before washing with warm water; and after washing, splash with cold water once more. This will ensure that the sensitive pores will be closed during agitated rinsing, thus minimizing the affects of sensitive skin. If washed too roughly or frequently, dry skin will chap and flake. The loose skin particles will cause even more breakouts than from bacteria and dirt alone.

Remnants of chronic acne appear in the form of unsightly scars and, in the long run, keloids. Keloids are lumps of damaged or dead tissue that resemble cysts. Typically inactive, keloids sometimes spread and persist on their own, even without the presence of acne. There is no sure topical solution in the removal of keloids. For that, oral treatment is necessary. The recently approved Accutane helps to lessen the appearance of keloids; though it works indirectly by minimizing the sebaceous glands that irritate the skin. For direct treatment of keloids and cysts, an injection of cortisone is the most common answer. Cortisone triggers a reaction in the immune system that helps the body fight inflammatory ailments. Once injected, its affects can take as long as a few days to fully work. The lumps may still persist, but injections help to soften them, thus making it easier to gradually heal.

Chemical peeling is invaluable in the treatment of acne scars. Scarring typically affects the outer epidermis, and peeling it away to reveal the newer, untouched skin is aesthetically affective. But peeling should only be done after the acne has subsided and little keloids remain. Peeling will expose new, sensitive skin, thereby increasing the potential for infection; any presence of acne will no doubt raise that risk.

In the long term, lotions and body oils will lead to unbalanced skin if used improperly, especially excessively. They supply the body with more oils, and excessive body moisture is a common cause for acne and other topical conditions. Know your body before investing in expensive topical solutions. For those suffering from chronic acne and keloids, recent research indicates that the oil extracted from the emu bird contains nutritional properties that aid the skin in healing, as opposed to simply eliminating germs and excess oil.

Scary Scars – Know How to Treat It the Non-Surgical Way!

What are scars & why scars arise?

Scars occur after healing of a wound caused by accident, burn, or surgery. Scars form on the human skin and look like fibrous tissues. Skin is a very sensitive and soft part in the human body. Scars naturally form on the wounded area when the healing process is complete. Skin problems like acne and infections like chicken pox will also leave scars on various areas of the body. Most of the wounds leave scars on the body, and the size of the scar is related to the size of the wound.

The damaged area of the skin is repaired and collagen fibres are formed over the wound by the cells called fibroblasts. The fibrous tissue or scars resultant of wound do not possess the qualities of the skin. They are not resistant to ultra violet radiation and the hair follicles don’t grow on these spots. These scars cannot be removed completely from the body, but there are various treatment methods to enhance the appearance of the affected area.

Types of Scars

Keliod scars: These scars take a tumor like shape and bulge beyond the wounded area. These scars protrude beyond the wound, and are severe when the wounded area is around the joint.

Hypertrophic scars: These are similar to keliod scars in shape, but do not protrude beyond the wounded area.

Contracture scars: These type of scars form on wounds caused by burns. The skin gets tightened as a result of these scars, and one may experience difficulty to move.

Acne scars: These scars are resultant of severe acne. The size and type of scars varies depending on the type of acne.

Chicken pox scars: Chicken pox leaves scars on the skin after infection. These scars may be darker than the skin color and remains almost throughout life.

Treatment of scars in the non - surgical way

Dressing the wound: The wounds must be given proper medical dressing to prevent infections. The wounds which are left open are at a higher risk of getting infected, and due to the delay in the healing process deep scars on the affected areas may occur.

Pressure dressing: Pressure dressing causes a reduction in wound metabolism. It exerts pressure on the area covered and prevents accumulation of fluids in the underlying tissues. The use of pressure dressings on the affected areas has been effective in preventing scar formation.

Creams and ointments in treating scars: There are various creams and ointments available to reduce scarring. These creams are applied on the wound and they help to reduce formation of scars on the affected areas. Consult a dermatologist to get the best suitable ointments according to the type of wound for treating scars.

Calcium channel blockers: Calcium antagonists are used to decrease collagen synthesis. They are capable to induce changes in the fibroblast gene expression. They block the cellular communication pathways which are essential to regulate the behavior of the fibroblast. This method is useful in treatment of established scars.

Laser treatment: This type of treatment is useful to flatten the scars which are raised above the level of the skin. The pink color of the scar can also be changed using laser treatment.

Acne scar treatment: Most of the teens are affected by acne and recover without any permanent marks. But in some people acne leaves scars on their skin. The areas affected with acne must not be exposed to the skin, as it may delay the healing process. The use of topical skin care products can be helpful to reduce scars at early stage. A good moisturizer can be applied over the skin to protect it from the sun rays. The use of chemical peels improves the skin tone, but it is less effective on scars.

Scars are formed due to various reasons and can be found almost on everyone’s body. Most people think that surgery is the only way to remove scars, and so they choose to live with scars, instead of surgery. The non-surgical methods described above are also effective to reduce the impact of scars.

Sunburn: An Important Skin Issue

Sunlight is essential in the improvement of one's health. An adequate amount of sunlight is one of the primary sources of vitamin D which, in turn, helps protect against bone loss. However, overexposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays may cause certain skin ailments like sunburn. Sunburn is an inflammation of skin tissue due to overexposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays. Chronic sun overexposure and burning may cause the skin to become rough and wrinkled. In the long run, overexposure also increases the risk of skin cancer. However, there are many skin care products that might be used to treat this skin condition. But before deciding to use these products, the causes, symptoms, and treatments of sunburn should be well understood.

Sunburn develops when a person receives excessive sunlight or other sources of ultraviolet rays. It occurs because the body is not able to make enough protective pigments that are designed to protect the skin. Less than 15 minutes of sun exposure may lead to sunburn for light sensitive persons. Long-term excessive exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun may destroy the epidermis, or the outer layer of the skin and damage the tiny blood vessels underneath. When the skin is burned, protein production in the skin may be hampered because of the blood vessels are dilate and leak fluids. This condition may lead to Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) damage. DNA contains are essential in the functioning of all known living organisms. Chronic damage in the DNA may lead to cancer. Sunburn may cause the skin to turn red and blister. Signs and symptoms of sunburn may appear a few minutes or hours after exposure. Severe cases of sunburn may be accompanied with vomiting, fever, and collapse.

Treatment for sunburn may include the following:

Aspirin, acetaminophen and ibuprofen can help combat pain
Anesthetic creams or sprays containing benzocain and lidocain provide temporary relief
Antibacterial and antimicrobial soaps and antiseptics help prevent infection
Aloe-based skin care products soothe and cool overheated skin
Moisturizers can help keep your skin from drying out and tightening up

Sunburn and other skin ailments can be prevented with the use of water-resistant sunscreen which contains sun protective factor (SPF) and other skin care products. An ounce of sunscreen should be applied 15-30 minutes before getting exposed to the sun. Skin experts advice individuals to reapply this product every two hours.

Other things that should be remembered to prevent sunburn may include the following:

Limit sun exposure to 15 minutes the first day, even if the weather is hazy, slowly increasing exposure daily;
Re-apply sunscreen every two hours (more often if sweating or swimming);
Re-apply waterproof sunscreen after swimming more than 80 minutes, after toweling off, or after perspiring heavily;
Avoid the sun between 10 A.M. and 3 P.M.;
Use waterproof sunscreen on legs and feet, since the sun can burn even through water; and
Wear an opaque shirt in water, because reflected rays are intensified.
Skin care these days has become an essential part of a health regimen because of the health threats to the skin like sunburn. Taking care of the skin is essential in preventing the development of skin ailments like psoriasis, skin cancer, and other skin conditions. Understanding proper use of skin care products and maintaining appropriate sun exposure is essential in maintaining healthy skin.

Oily Skin Care

To start the discussion on oily skin care, it’s imperative to first understand the cause behind oily skin. Put simply, oily skin is a result of excessive production of sebum (an oily substance that is naturally produced by skin). As is known to everyone, excess of everything is bad; so excessive sebum is bad too. It leads to clogging of skin pores, resulting in accumulation of dead cells and hence formation of pimples/acne. Moreover, oily skin spoils your looks too. So, ‘oily skin care’ is as important as the ‘skin care’ for other types of skin.

The basic aim of ‘oily skin care’ is the removal of excessive sebum or oil from the skin. However, oily skin care procedures should not lead to complete removal of oil. ‘Oily skin care’ starts with the use of a cleanser. However, not all cleansers will work. You need a cleanser which contains salicylic acid i.e. a beta-hydroxy acid that retards the rate of sebum production. Cleansing should be done twice a day (and even more in hot and humid conditions).

Most of the oily skin care products are oil-free; however, it is always good to check the ingredients of the product, before you actually buy it. This is especially important if a product is marked as ‘suitable for all skin types’, instead of ‘oily skin care product’. ‘Oily skin care’ is also dependent on the degree of oiliness, if you aren’t too oily, so some of these ‘suitable for all’- type of products might be work for you too. For extremely oily skin, only oily skin care products are suitable. Your oily skin care routine can include an alcohol based toner (for an extremely oily skin). This can be the second step in your oily skin care routine i.e. just after cleansing. However, excessive toning can harm your skin.

The next step in your oily skin care routine can be a mild moisturiser. Again, the degree of oiliness of your skin will determine whether you need to include this in your oily skin care routine. If you do decide to include a moisturiser, be sure to use one that is oil-free, wax-free and lipid-free. You could also use a clay mask (say once a week) as an oily skin care measure.

As far as the oily skin care products go, you might need to try out a few before you arrive at the one that is really suitable for your skin.

In case these measures don’t give you the desired result, consult a good dermatologist for advice. He could prescribe stronger oily skin care products like vitamin A creams, retinoids, sulphur creams etc , which can help counter the problems of oily skin.

All About Facial Skin Care

Facial skin care is more a matter of discipline than anything else. A facial skin care routine is what you need (and you need to follow the facial skin care routine with complete seriousness). So let's check what comprises an effective facial skin care routine. Well, very simply, a facial skin care routine can follow the following 4 steps:

-Cleansing
-Toning
-Exfoliating
-Moisturising

Cleansing is the first thing in facial skin care routine. Cleansing helps in removing dust, pollutants, grease and extra oil from your skin, thereby preventing damage to your skin. Just spot your face and neck with a good cleansing lotion or cream and gently massage it into your skin using upward strokes. Use a soft face tissue or cotton wool to wipe your face in a gentle patting fashion (do not rub). Cleansing should be done at least twice a day i.e. morning (as part of complete facial skin care routine) and evening (on a standalone basis). Water soluble cleansers are the best for inclusion in your facial skin care routine.

Toning is the next in a facial skin care routine. However, this is the optional part of the facial skin care routine. Mostly, proper cleansing can compensate for toning. Toning helps remove all traces of dirt, grease and excess cleanser. Instead of making it part of your daily facial skin care routine, you can using toning occasionally i.e. when you have been exposed to particularly harsh environment/pollution.

Exfoliation is again, kind of, optional step in everyday routine for facial skin care. However, exfoliation is necessary at least once a week (or twice, depending on the skin type and the environmental conditions). Exfoliation finds its place in facial skin care routine because of the natural tendency of skin to replenish the skin cells every 3 or 4 weeks. As a facial skin care technique, exfoliation helps in removing the dead skin cells that block the pores, thus assisting the skin in the natural process. However, excessive or harsh exfoliation can cause damage to your skin; so you need to balance it out.

The next thing in facial skin care is moisturising. In fact, moisturising is the most important part of facial skin care routine. Moisturisers prevent your skin from getting dry. Dry skin is really undesirable since it cause the upper layer skin to break, leading to dead skin cells. Again, use light upward strokes to make the moisturiser more effective. Moisturisers work the best when applied on warm and damp skin. So do not try to remove all the moisture in the previous steps of facial skin care routine.

Besides the normal facial skin care routine, you should also exercise the following for facial skin care:

-Use proper make-up remover instead of just washing it away
-Pay heed to your skin type and the environment, when choosing facial skin care products.
-Before you start using a new facial skin care product, test it by applying it on a short patch of skin e.g. ear lobes.
-Never rub your skin too hard.
-Use sunscreen lotions for protection against sun.

Aloe Vera: 5 amazing benefits for healthier skin

Since the days of antiquity, the aloe vera plant has been a popular healing remedy for many different types of diseases and conditions and also as an aid in the promotion of greater health. Without a doubt, aloe vera’s most popular use is in the promotion of health and healing for the skin. But do we really understand how truly amazing this plant really is and what it does for us in improving the health and healing of our skin?

Here is a brief list of just 5 of the amazing benefits aloe vera has for the health and healing of our skin:

BENEFIT 1: Aloe Vera heals the skin:

Probably the most widely known benefit is the healing effect that aloe has on the skin. Aloe vera aids in the healing of wounds, frostbite and burns including sunburn. Aloe vera contains a combination of salicylic acid and magnesium that has a soothing, anti-inflamatory effect on the skin. Aloe is able to penetrate the skin’s layers to reduce pain, inflammation and increase bloodflow to the affected area. With its ability to penetrate the layers of the skin easily and be absorbed quickly, aloe vera has been widely used to heal, and sooth the skin.

BENEFIT 2: Aloe Vera moisturizes the skin:

Aloe vera is a natural moisturizer for the skin. With its ability to penetrate the layers of the skin easily and be absorbed quickly, aloe helps to balance the skin’s own natural pH level, which is needed for smooth, healthy looking skin.

BENEFIT 3: Aloe Vera conditions the skin:

Aloe vera also provides natural skin conditioning. Aloe vera contains valuable vitamins and nutrients that are able to be carried to and reach and the deep innermost layers of the skin, thereby healing and conditioning the skin from the inside out.

BENEFIT 4: Aloe Vera fights aging:

Aloe vera contains natural anti-oxidants such as vitamins A, C and E which are widely known and used throughout the cosmetics industry to help reduce the adverse signs of aging in the skin and also to help improve and tighten the skin’s overall elasticity.

BENEFIT 5: Aloe Vera promotes healthy skin:
Aloe vera also promotes healthy skin growth. Aloe vera is believed to contain its own natural enzymes which have the capability of ridding the skin of dead skin cells and aid in the promotion of healthy, new skin cell growth. Aloe vera leaves the skin with a soft, healthy looking tone and texture.

Super Clear Face

Today my face is super clear, but it wasn't always that way.
Y'know when ever I would read one of these types of articles that talks about how someone suffered from something and is now on the other side I was always skeptical.

I thought, "B.S. that is just some guy typing up a bunch of lies. Once you have a face that has acne, you always will." That was the old cynic.

But sitting here today I can honestly say that I am that guy and these words I write are the truth. All through high school I had acne. I would never get any zits on my cheeks but a ton around my mouth and beside my nose, with the occasional forehead pimple too.

I remember how it felt hating to go to school because people would actually see you. Walking around with as much self confidence as a mild mannered, naked toad man everyone was hard to talk to.

I'd make it through the day and feel so relieved to be home so that I could go through my routine of skin care that was completely wrong. I read that potassium got rid of pimples. Great, so I made sure to eat tons of potassium rich foods everyday, tons of bananas and potato chips!

Sure they are high in potassium but ridiculously oily and as I ate them everyday after school I was only making things worse.

I remember what it felt like to not know what the hell to do. To feel frustrated and wanting so badly to have clear skin all the time. To capture the feeling and confidence I had when I did have a clear skin day. Those days were magic!

I instantly felt more attractive, more confident, felt the stress lift away all from the way my face looked. Maybe I shouldn't have put so much stock in to that but I did and you probably do too.

Now many years later I eat extremely well, which I believe is a huge component to having clear skin and I also take preventive measures. Preventative measures to not only keep acne away but when you get a little older you start thinking about the other face problem... wrinkles.

Now I am only 30 and don't have too many wrinkles yet BUT now is the time to start tackling them. Why wait until you already have a catcher's mitt face to try and reverse the aging process? For many of us that will be too late.

You need to take care of your face NOW to prevent future breakouts AND slow the signs of aging.

How do you do that?

Dry Body Oil Spray Fights Dry Flaky Skin

No one wants dehydrated, flaky skin. It's uncomfortable and unsightly, and it's a major problem for everybody, especially during those winter months. If you head to the store, you'll see a mind-boggling variety of creams, gels, lotions, and other products that all guarantee they're the best. How do you decide on the right one?
One of the most popular products out there is dry body oil spray. This is because it is easy to use, effective, safe and all natural. Most women prefer dry body oil spray to gels, creams and other remedies that can be greasy and goopy. Let's take a look at how these work to keep your skin moist, nourished and healthy looking.

- How Dry Body Oil Spray Works -

It couldn't be simpler; you simply hold it about six inches away and spray. You can either apply to a certain spot where you have skin trouble, or you can mist over your whole body from the neck down. This is especially nice after a shower, and it helps regulate your skin moisture.

Use just enough over the particular area so that there is just a thin layer. Don't worry; it will be absorbed quickly. It doesn't have to be dried. If you want, you can massage it into your skin. This helps it get spread evenly and can help it work more effectively.

Dry body oil spray is best if applied right after a shower or bath, when your skin is still slightly wet. Don't towel off completely before you use the product. However, make sure that you have a towel or rug under your feet. If you are standing on wet tiles, there is the risk of slipping!

You can use this on your face and hair, but you should not apply it directly. Instead of shooting yourself in the face, mist your hands until they become moist, and then massage it in. This should be done anywhere above the neck. Also, this kind of spray should never be applied to the area around your eyes. Your eyes are especially sensitive, and even though these products are usually non-toxic and all natural, it still could be harmful.

If you want to apply to your hair, simply cover your face and mist it above your head. Some people find that dry body oil spray applied to dry or stringy hair gives it more life. It can help keep your scalp from being dry and flaky as well.

Experiment while you're putting on make up. Some people find that it helps shimmer powder and dusting to stick and stay on. It also gives your skin a slight shine, which can help accentuate your make up.

The Best Thing About Dry Body Oil Spray...

...is that it's usually all natural. No chemicals, no coloring and no artificial scents are added. Many brands use natural ingredients for scent, such as vanilla. Most contain plant oils and natural anti-oxidants. These ingredients help keep your skin healthy and looking good the natural way.

If you've never tried a dry body oil spray, head out and get some today. You may be amazed at what it can do to nourish your skin!

Vinci & Rakos always uses natural botanical extacts, minerals and vitamins in the creation of their formulas. Their dry body oil spray leaves a soft, long lasting, moisturizer of conditioning oils and vitamins. Feel the soft protective "cushion" left on your skin. http://www.whomakessense.com

Tips on Skin Care During Pregnancy

Most women expect to have beautiful and glowing skin when they become pregnant. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Since the glow often attributed to pregnancy is due to the hormonal changes a woman's body undergoes, different reactions are to be expected. Some women may break out during the whole term of their pregnancies while others may have acne only during the first trimester. Some women also experience skin dryness and only a select few start and end their pregnancies all aglow. If you are pregnant and want to maintain great skin throughout your term, it is essential that you have a great skin care routine. The following tips can help you achieve that proverbial pregnant glow:

1. Update your skin care products.

Your skin has different needs compared to your skin before the pregnancy. Since hormonal changes can cause your skin to become oilier or drier, you may need to adjust and change the products you use. Some skin care products may also contain ingredients that are not suitable for pregnant women. Consult your doctor and dermatologist for skin care products that are safe for pregnant women.

2. Switch to moisturizing body washes.

Aside from your facial skin, the skin on your body also needs extra care during the pregnancy. The stress and trauma caused by stretching due to your increasing bulk can make your skin dry and itch. Using soaps can strip your skin off its natural oils and reduce its suppleness. Switch to moisturizing body washes to restore moisture on your skin and prevent itching and dryness.

3. Load up on sun protection.

Your skin's sensitivity will increase during pregnancy. This means that it can get irritated and damaged easier when exposed to the sun. Avoid skin discolorations, dryness, and irritations by applying sunscreen as part of your daily skin care routine.

4. Pamper your bump.

The skin on your abdominal area experiences continuous stretching throughout the whole term of your pregnancy. This stretching can result to unsightly stretch marks long after you have given birth. Prevent stretch marks by regularly massaging your tummy with a moisturizing pregnancy gel or cream.

5. Pay attention to your breasts.

Your tummy is not the only thing that enlarges during pregnancy. Your breasts also increase in size to prepare for lactation. The skin on your breasts and nipples will be particularly sensitive which can lead to itching and dryness. Applying nipple creams on your breasts can reduce the dryness while wearing cotton maternity bras can help reduce the itching.

6. Go easy on the makeup.

Less is more should be your motto when using makeup during your pregnancy. A foundation stick or concealer, loose powder, and a multipurpose color stick are all you need to put on a polished face. Since skin during pregnancy is sensitive and prone to irritations, choosing moisturizing, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic cosmetics is a must.

Following these tips can help you achieve great skin during your pregnancy. Aside from these, eating a balanced diet, doing regular exercise, and getting sufficient rest are still the most basic things you can do for a good pregnancy and even better skin.

Cure Eczema Naturally

I have suffered, a lot, from seborrhea but managed to completely cure it. It was not an easy task to perform. The first thing I did, as we all do, was the ordinary treatment but when ever I stopped it returned. The worse part was that after a few months it had no affect and I had to change the formula again. It did not cure me at all it did was hiding the symptoms. Eventually I have managed to completely cure my seborrhea. The following is some information and tips regarding curing your eczemas.

Eczema is an inflammation of the skin and can be roughly divided into three main types:

Seborrhea
Mainly affects people with oily skin.

No Contact (Asthma for example)
A reaction, that happens without direct contact to the skin.

Contact
Cause by direct contact to skin by some matter. The majority of the population will not be affected by it at all.

Simple advices to follow which can cure your eczema (They completely cured me):

1. Do not wear rough fabric cloths.
2. Find shampoos and soaps which suit your skin. Try the trial and error method. And consult naturalists.
3. Avoid allergenic materials.
4. Use hypoallergenic moister creams.
5. Try the elimination selection diet – with this diet you take whole food families from your daily consummation. For instance you take out all the milk related foods for a couple of weeks and see what happens, if it did not help try another family if it did help return the process inside the family of food to find the particular food which caused the problem.
6. Consume pro-biotic foods to reinforce your digestion system.
7. Change your lifestyle to a less stressed one. It is recommended to take courses in that field.
8. Toxic cleaning. Our leaver is responsible for removing toxic elements away from our body when it fails we could suffer from eczema related to accumulation of toxic materials in the skin. Two spoons of olive-oil with half a glass squeezed lemon juice every morning should help it work properly.
9. Calendula cream is a very big relief for inflamed parts of the skin.
10. Olive-oil can be used for seborrhea: you gently rub it on your scalp and remove it with lukewarm water.

I did some of the above advices and it really helped me in eliminating my seborrhea condition, today I can wear black shirts, only people with dandruffs will understand that, and avoid all the toxic creams I used on my face. This, accompany by a healthy raw food diet, simply cured me.

Guide in Purchasing All Natural Skin Care Products

Today, thousands of skin care products are manufactured and sold in various markets worldwide. These products are available in hundreds of beauty and skin care establishments like stores, malls, salons, spas, etc. Products as such are continuously booming due to the increasing demand for skin care treatments and products by beauty-conscious men and women each year.

Beauty and skin care products have different variants. These personal enhancement products are also categorized as either artificial/conventional or natural skin care products. Since the conventional beauty and skin care products can be quite expensive, many people choose to buy certified all natural skin care products instead. Not only these products are less expensive, but they are also a lot safer to use compared to conventional skin care products.

Now, if you are thinking of using all natural skin care products for your everyday personal use, remember that there are a lot of things to consider when buying these kinds of cosmetic/beauty items. You just can't go and grab the first natural skin care product you find in the mall or store. See, not all organic or natural skin care products are legitimate or certified. Note that hundreds of such products are distributed and sold in many markets.

As such, below is a guide for consumers on purchasing all natural skin care products:

1. Determine your skin type.

The first thing you need to do before heading to your nearest beauty and health store is to know your skin type. This is really important since all skin and beauty care products are developed to match certain skin types. Hence, if you just use any type of product without knowing your skin type, irritation, blemishes, dryness, and other complications may happen to your skin.

2. Talk to your dermatologist.

Another important thing to do before shopping for natural skin care products is to talk to your dermatologist first. Your doctor is the one who can tell you what skin type are you. Upon confirming this, your doctor can then tell you of the skin care variants that are applicable and safe to use on your skin.

3. Read product labels carefully.

When you already determine what skin type you are and you already know which skin care variants are applicable to your skin, you are now more than ready to shop for the all natural skin care products you need. Once you already found your prospect products, read and compare all labels carefully to know which one best suits your needs.

In addition, reading the product labels carefully is a good way of determining which ones are hoax and certified products. Remember that not all products claiming to contain all natural ingredients are purely organic. So it really pays off when you take the time to study the product labels first before purchasing any product.

4. Never ever fall for the so-called “miracle” skin care products.

There are numerous skin care products in stores today that pose false advertisements of their so- called miracle ingredients. There are really no such thing as miracle ingredients in beauty and skin care products. Majority of these hoax products promise immediate results to consumers. Hence, stay away from these products.

Taking Care of Dry Skin

There are usually three types of skin, ranging from oily to combination and dry skin. It is important that you realize the right way to take care for your skin type. Most people over look the fact that they have a particular type of skin, and continue to care for their skin in a way that does not suit or benefit them.

If you have dry skin, you should care for it by trying to add moisture. There are numerous products out that help care for your dry skin. If you have dry skin on your legs and arms, you should try using a moisturizing lotion daily. Lotions should be applied when you have finished showering; this will help keep your legs feeling silky and smooth. Many people seem to have problems with dry skin on their face, this too requires extra care. The skin on your face is very sensitive, and it is also the most noticed part of your body.

“Dry skin needs to be cared for and washed often, but gently”
Dry skin needs to be cared for and washed often, but gently. When washing your face, make sure you never use hot water. The deposits in the water are too drying. Adding moisturizer after cleansing your face will help make your dry skin look better. When you wash your face, you should use a soap to care for your skin that is specifically formulated for dry skin.

Home Remedies to Treat Dry Skin

There are many products out there to help you care for your dry skin. There are also some recipes that you can use at home in your own kitchen. Some of those are listed below:

Morning skin rejuvenator and cleanser:

1 teaspoon of orange juice
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon of olive oil
3 drops of rose water
4 drops of lemon juice

Mix all of the ingredients together and use as a cleanser in the morning.

Avocado Facial:

Avocado is a naturally rich moisturizer that is perfect for caring for dry skin.

Take one avocado and mash it until it is a creamy texture. You can then apply the mixture to both your face and neck. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then rinse off as normal. You will instantly notice how soft and smooth your skin will feel.

Things to Remember

You should care for your skin on a daily basis. Try to avoid touching your face frequently throughout the day. This will prevent your natural oils from rubbing off. It is vital that you maintain a daily skin care routine when taking care of your dry skin. This will help maintain a naturally healthy look that you will love.

How To Choose Right Sunscreen?

Before one goes outside to get pleasure from activities during summer, apply sunscreen. The average adult needs 1 ounce of sunscreens lotions or creams for coverage of entire body. One should use sunscreen for 20-30 minutes before going outside during the daytime. An individual should consider the following things while selecting the best sunscreen:

Right Sun Protection Factor

It is considered that sunscreen with high rate of SPF gives amazing results against the dangerous Ultraviolet radiations. The rate of SPF enables one make out to how much time one can expose to the sun without blistering. Such as, if one applies sunscreen with SPF-15 for 15-20 minutes can live under the sun 15 times longer without blistering.

The dermatologists are also suggested that one should use sunscreen with SPF-15 or more than SPF-15 for protecting oneself from harmful sunrays.

Protection from Ultraviolet A and Ultraviolet B

The sticky tag of the sunscreen lotions or cream will show the Ultraviolet A or Ultraviolet B shield. Ultraviolet A is liable for the aging result of the sun. Nevertheless, excess exposure to Ultraviolet A radiation is at high risk of getting skin cancer. Ultraviolet B is liable for skin cancer and sunburns. An individual must select as product that has broad-spectrum protestants or has states Ultraviolet A or Ultraviolet B protection.

Water Resistant vs Waterproof

If an individual is searching for a sunscreen to apply when in the water, try to opt sunscreen that is water resistant or waterproof. This form of sunscreen must offer safety in the liquid for more than one hour, when waterproof offers just 40 minutes of safety.

Sunscreen according to form of skin

If one has dry skin, try to buy sunscreen lotion or cream to improve moisture. One should select an oil-free sunscreen lotions or creams in case of having greasy skin. If an individual has sensitive skin, buy a sunscreen that includes just titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. These elements offer a physical obstacle against sunrays rather than chemically soaking them that may be gentler on the skin. One should not use sunscreen that includes alcohol if one has eczema or rosacea.

Facial Skin Care: Fact or Fiction?

Are you trying to separate fact from fiction when deciding on facial skin care products?

Fact: There are a number of skin care products in the market that really do work.

Fact: There are as many skin care products on the market that don't.

What's the key to telling the difference?

If you think taking care of your normal-to-dry skin has to be a time-consuming chore, you're mistaken. It's just a matter of finding and using the right products daily for a specified period of time. If you do that, you will find yourself looking younger in no time flat.

Manufacturers who are willing to guarantee their products usually mean business. You can generally take this as a clue that the manufacturer believes in their own product. They are, in essence, willing to put their money where their mouth is.

You are also very much a part of how well a given facial skin care product succeeds. If you are willing to follow the manufacturer's recommendation about how to use and apply the product, the greater your opportunity for success. If, however, you are not willing to do that, you shouldn't expect a product to work for you.

Do Your Own Research

You may have to do your own research to find out what products are really up to the standards they claim to be. That's what I did. I'm 44 years old as of this writing, and most people I meet say I still look a teenager, especially without makeup. Why? Because I did my own research and I didn't stop until I found facial skin care products that did exactly what I wanted them to do. That was years ago (literally) and I still use those same products today.

Product Loyalty

In the society we live in, there is often so much pressure to find the next best thing. The reality is that if you find something that works for you, you need to stick with it. Change is good, but too much change can be devastating, particularly when it comes to your skin. Don't always be in such a hurry to use other products just because your favorite celebrity is pitching it. That's what I call market manipulation.

Don't Short Circuit The Process

Rule of Thumb: Buy a product. Use it. Be Consistent. See Results.

Go Green

The best possible products to use on your skin are those that have as little artificial "stuff" as possible. I absolutely love the skin care products that I use and I'm not even afraid to leave my house without makeup because I have that much confidence in the appearance of my skin.

Don't Delay

Don't ever procrastinate when it comes to anything having to do with skin care or your overall health. Beauty is not just about cosmetic enhancement, it's about your health in general. Regardless of the type of skin you have, do you need to do to make it as healthy as it can be. This goes for both men and women because men need to take care of their skin, too. But especially if you're a woman, sometimes you are the last person on your list to get taken care of. Take care of yourself and your health because the people you love really do need you.

What Is The Future Of Your Facial Skin Care?

Facial skin care, or any kind of skin care, is essential to the your health. You can never take it for granted that your skin or your body will take care of itself. Just as good food properly digested will make your body stronger and healthier, good facial skin care when properly "digested" or absorbed into your pores will do the same for your skin. Do what it takes to create a brighter and younger looking future for your skin no matter what age you are.

5 Sensitive Skin Care Tips

A lot of people claim that they have sensitive skin when they break out after using a certain product or were exposed to the sun. However, most of than not, the culprits behind the blotchy skin and zits are using inappropriate products for one's skin type and bad skin habits. If you are one of the many who break out or itch after sun exposure or using a product, it is a good idea to determine if sensitive skin is really the cause or something else.

How to tell if you have sensitive skin?

Generally, sensitive skin is thin with visible broken capillaries under the skin's surface. Sensitive skin also has fine pores. When exposed to moderate changes in temperature, sensitive skin reddens easily, whether from cold or heat. Sensitive skin tends to rash easily when exposed to dirt or even moderate strength skin care products. If your skin manifests these signs, chances are high that you really have sensitive skin. For a thorough skin assessment, a visit to a dermatologist is in order.

Since caring for sensitive skin can be quite difficult, it is advisable to limit the use of skin care products. Generally, simple skin care regimens are more effective on sensitive skin since it prevents product overload. Sensitive skin care relies on strengthening the skin to reduce sensitivity and increase tolerance.

How to care for sensitive skin?

1. Hydrate your skin.

Sensitive skin is prone to dryness which can lead to increased sensitivity. Drinking eight or more glasses of water and applying a lightweight and hypoallergenic moisturizer a day can help restore your skin's moisture or lipid barrier that acts as defense mechanism against allergens.

2. Eat skin-friendly food.

Fruits, vegetables, and other water-rich foods are essential in correcting skin imbalances. The vitamin, mineral, and water content of these foods hydrate your skin and restore its health. On the other hand, eating spicy food and drinking alcohol and caffeinated drinks can increase your skin's sensitivity.

3. Limit sun exposure.

Sun exposure can cause sensitive skin to redden and burn easily. Before going out, apply sun protection on your face using sunscreen and on your body with sunblock lotion. You can extend the protection to your lips to prevent them from darkening. Applying an SPF-rich lip balm under your lipstick or gloss can help protect your lips. Umbrellas, sunglasses, and hats protect your body, eyes, and face from overexposure to the sun.

4. Protect skin at all times.

Even when you are indoors, your skin still needs protection. If you are staying in an airconditioned room or one with forced heating, apply a lightweight moisturizer frequently. this will prevent your skin from drying out due to the extreme temperatures.

5. Avoid products with artificial colorants and synthetic fragrances.

Colorants and fragrances are added to skin care products only for increasing marketing appeal. Your skin do not actually benefit from these additions. Often, they even cause allergic reactions and increase your skin's sensitivity.

Aside from these tips, it is also a good idea to switch to skin care products that are specially formulated for sensitive skin. A thorough skin assessment and consultation with a dermatologist can reveal to you skin care techniques and products that can help strengthen your skin and minimize its sensitivity.

The Beautifying Power of Natural Skin Care Ingredients

Teaming up with the increasing demand for beauty products is the sudden popularity of natural skin care as alternative to beauty enhancer products and surgical treatments. Today, many people prefer to enhance their skin in a natural way rather than to use beauty products due to a number of positive reasons. Fist, natural skin care is safe for it makes use of essential oils, herbs, roots, and other natural ingredients. Second, natural skin care is less expensive compared to purchasing beauty products. Third, natural skin care really works.

Defining natural skin care

Natural skin care is one way of caring for the skin that makes use of natural ingredients like herbs and roots. These ingredients are combined with carrier agents such as emulsifiers and preservatives. This type of skin care becomes popular as most of its ingredients are proven to have anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

With the popularity of natural skin care regimen, many people prefer to use skin care products containing natural ingredients, and spas are also incorporating the use of natural ingredients in their skin care treatments and beauty services. Among the ingredients used in today’s natural skin care practices, rose hip seed oil, beeswax, ale vera, tea tree oil, jojoba, shea butter, and witch hazel are the most popular.

Meanwhile, there is more to natural skin care than just mere application on the skin. It basically involves the belief that the body’s physical appearance or health is a reflection of what is consumed or taken by the body. Those who adhere to natural skin care pay less attention or concern on using artificial beauty products, for they believe that natural beauty is better than enhanced beauty.

Natural ingredients as effective skin enhancers

The following are three popular ingredients that are commonly used in natural skin care products and treatments:

1. Shea butter

Derived from kernel of the “Karite” tree, shea butter is a common ingredient of natural skin care products sold at drug stores and high-rate spas. Pure shea butter is known to heal skin conditions such as stretch marks and dermatitis. Today, shea butter is regarded as among the safest natural skin care ingredients that provides effective therapeutic results.

2. Honey

Honey is one of the most popular ingredients found in natural skin care products and treatments. It is known to have natural anti-microbial and antioxidant elements. Honey can also retain and absorb moisture on the skin, that is why it is widely used in natural skin care regimen.

3. Jojoba

Jojoba is a popular natural ingredient with healing properties. It is also known for its moisturizing element, thus, perfect for softening the skin.

4. Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural wax found in honey bee hives. This natural ingredient is actually used for a number of commercial purposes, but it is also popularly utilized in skin care treatments and products. Beeswax helps make the skin become smoother and younger looking. It is also known for its healing and anti-microbial elements as well as for its efficient moisturizing component.

How to solve Anti Aging Skin Care Treatment and Skin Care Solutions

Dr.Stuart Kaplan was inspired to create the kaplanMD line because he could find no other product on the market to address his patients’ skin concerns. After years of conducting research to understand the causes of anti anging skincare, skin care solution, hormonal aging product and collaborating with scientists and endocrinologists in the United States and abroad, Dr. Kaplan has identified 3 distinct types of skin aging, which are caused by time, hormonal imbalances, and environmental damage.

Further, he concluded that hormonal imbalances, which studies now show begin in our late 20s and early 30s, cause 12 key skin symptoms. They are: accelerated formation of fine lines and wrinkles, adult acne, flushing/redness, loss of firmness, loss of elasticity, thinning, colorless or translucent skin, dry, dehydrated skin, uneven pigmentation, facial hair growth, photosensitivity (sensitive to sun exposure), and hypersensitivity (skin is more sensitive to irritation, allergies and bruising).

This is why all kaplanMD skincare solutions contain the microsphere time-release delivery system. Previously only available in prescription medications, the exclusive, patented microsphere technology delivers the kaplanMD Phytogenic Triactive Complex and other essential anti-aging and environmental protection ingredients deep within the skin. Utilizing the best ingredients for all 3 types of skin aging, at their highest concentrations, kaplanMD has incorporated the most sophisticated new delivery technology to ensure your skin receives the maximum benefit from each ingredient. LIP 20 treatments is the first complete, dermatologist-formulated Lip Treatment & Lip Plumper created to moisturize, contour, plump and contains 10 active ingredients to prevent all 3 types of skin aging treatment. Products that claim to plump lips actually use irritants to force the Lips to swell. These gimmicky products are an unnatural and unhealthy stimulant to one of the most delicate areas of our face. Many lip glosses and lip treatments also contain castor oil or petroleum jelly, which actually direct sunlight to your lips, causing them to chap, dry, and sunburn very easily.

All products in the kaplanMD | for transitioning skin collection contain the exclusive Phytogenic Triactive Complex of Soy, which firms and plumps skin, Grapeseed, a powerful antioxidant, and exotic Black Cohosh, to help correct the skin symptoms caused by hormonal imbalances. The Phytogenic Triactive Complex is the result of Dr. Kaplan’s research on phytoestrogens, or plant-derived substances, which have estrogen-like properties. Studies have shown that when women (and men) experience a drop in estrogen levels, phytoestrogens can mimic the positive effects of estrogen on the skin, without the side effects of synthetic estrogen.

Homemade Face Masks -- Create Your Own Facial Masks

Treat yourself and your skin to some TLC. Give yourself a facial.
It's not only good for you, if feels great too. You can make a facial from ordinary kitchen goods. Here are some recipes which are inexpensive to make and you probably have the ingredients right in your kitchen. A homemade face mask is a mixture of natural ingredients mixed together to make a mask for one’s skin at home itself. The face mask should be made according to one’s skin type. First of all there lies the need for one to recognize one’s skin type. Like for e.g. if one’s skin get’s sticky, oily, itchy etc when one goes out in the sun it means one’s skin is oily. A homemade mask will take you no more than a few minutes to put together, and once you have the basic ingredients ready in a jar you can have your own instant facial mask ready for use. The best thing is that the mask is tailor made especially for you.

Normal, combination skin, oily and blemished skin

Mix one egg white, 1/2 cup cooked instant oatmeal, a teaspoon olive oil and a few drops of lemon juice until smooth. Spread on your face and neck, leave on for 15 – 30 min then rinse with lukewarm water. Few drops lemon juice will help to reduce blackheads while egg white will leave your skin feel “tight” after this mask application.

Honey Mask Recipe

The best facial mask is honey. Place a cloth in warm water and apply to your face to open the pores. Smear on honey, and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then use cold water to close the pores. Use once a week.

Egyptian facial mask-A little egg, a little milk, a little olive oil and you have the makings of an ancient mask. Grape cleanser-split 2-3 grapes and rub the flesh over face and neck. Rinse with cool water. Massage into the face and neck . Leave on for 15 minutes and gently rinse off. Dry Skin Mask-mix 1 tsp. of butter in 1 teaspoon of water. Apply it thoroughly into all the dry areas and leave for 15 - 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Another facial mask is oatmeal facial mask-take 2 tsp oatmeal and 1 tsp baking soda and add water to make paste. Apply to face and all over the skin and rub gently. Do not apply any type of facial mask just before a special occasion, the reason for this is the drawing power of the mask can flush the skin.

Moisturising

Moisturising morning and evening with a natural moisturiser hydrates, moisturises and protects the skin from daily pollutants.

For a moisturizing and nourishing mask, blend a mashed banana with white cosmetic clay and apply.

For normal skin, mix 1 cup yogurt, 1 tablespoon orange juice and 1 tablespoon lemon juice and apply it on your face. Clean it off after 20 minutes.

For dry skin, use a mixture of cooked oatmeal and honey; it is a very good moisturize and cleansing agent.

Banana-Avacado Mask ingredients 1/2 over-ripe banana ,1/2 over-ripe avacado ,2 Tbsp unflavored full-fat yogurt and 1 tsp olive oil ,Mash banana and avacado, combine with other ingredients, and mix well. Apply liberally to face and neck. Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Lighten circles under eyes Recipe-to lighten dark circles under your eyes, wrap a grated raw potato in cheesecloth and apply to eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Wipe off residue and apply an eye cream. Ingredients 4-5 very ripe med-size strawberries ,2 tsp. heavy cream and 1 tsp. honey. Puree strawberries, cream and honey together in a blender. Apply to your face evenly. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water or soft wash cloth.

Strawberry Mask

4 to 5 very ripe, medium size strawberries 2 teaspoons heavy cream 1 teaspoon honey

Rinse the strawberries in lukewarm water, and dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. In a small bowl, mash the fruit with a fork. Add the cream and honey, mixing well. Leave on for 20 minutes

People with sensitive or sunburned skin might find the strawberries irritating. Test on a small patch of skin first to assess your skin's reaction.

Cucumber delight

Mix into a blender a combination of one mashed banana, and half of cucumber. Drop in a tablespoon of honey and half a cup of lemon juice. Spread over the face and rinse off after thirty minutes. Read out Makeup tips. Also check out for home remedies and skin care tips

What if You Couldn’t Trust Skin Care Claims?

Do you go to the store looking for aromatherapy body lotion or other skin care products? And do you sometimes read the ingredients label to help figure out how your product of choice will affect your skin? Yet, if you are like the rest of the population, you probably have little idea what those ingredients on the label actually do! So, as a next step, you look at the product’s claims on the label. Unfortunately, as this article will teach you, you can’t always rely on these claims as there are few, if any, government standards and enforcement associated with them, which can create a problem for you, the consumer, particularly, as you will learn, if you are buying an aromatherapy skin care product.

Claim 1: Dermatologist Tested

This is a great claim that is made by beauty products to breed confidence in you, the user. To highlight a use case, the label might read “Dermatologist tested on oily skin. Clearly, this claim sounds nice, particularly if it was done on your type of skin. However, the claim has little meaning. To start, you’d have no clue which dermatologist actually did the work. Also, there’d be little, if any, way for you ascertain the testing dermatologist’s qualifications and history. It wouldn’t be unreasonable for you to think, “Did this dermatologist have experience with testing? Was she well educated? “ Further, you wouldn’t know the parameters of the test. Last, you’d have no way of telling who paid for the testing. If the consumer product company that manufactured the skin care product you are looking to buy paid for the testing, it would be difficult for it to be an unbiased test.

Claim 2: Hypoallergenic Product

According to Dictionary.com, hypoallergenic is defined as, “designed to reduce or minimize the possibility of an allergic response, as by containing relatively few or no potentially irritating substances.” Unfortunately, there is no government enforced or encoded standard that a company has to meet to make this claim. This problem grows in intensity when looking at an aromatherapy skin care product. That’s because any such product contains essential oils, which, when applied to the skin, can cause severe reactions in certain people, assuming they have an allergy to the particular essential oil in use.

Claim 3: Laboratory Tested

Like Dermatologist Tested, Laboratory Tested provides little value. Not only would you not know the qualifications of the testing laboratory, but also you would have no idea what the tests entailed. For example, the laboratory might not have tested for an allergy that you have, which is, again, particularly troublesome when buying an aromatherapy skin care product. Additionally, without knowledge of who funded the test, you couldn’t tell how impartial it was.

Unfortunately, given the complex ingredients found in skin care products, you often have to rely on the benefits and claims made by the manufacturer. But, as you learned, claims including Dermatologist Tested, Hypoallergenic, and Laboratory Tested offer little meaning for you. Consequently, it’s important that you not only research the product online, but also, if concerned, ask your doctor about it. Let’s face it, your skin is important, which is why you are willing to pay for expensive aromatherapy body lotion or other specialized skin care products. So, to keep your skin looking nice, research your products before you buy and apply.

Anti Wrinkle Cream Makes Fine Lines Disappear Before Your Eyes

Does the fountain of youth really exist? Well, many anti aging skin care product companies would say, "Absolutely, and it will only cost you $350 for a 30-day supply of our formula". Savvy advertisers have been making "hard-to-believe" claims about the effectiveness of their anti aging products with little to no scientific proof. Fortunately, not all anti aging skin care manufacturers operate in this manner. Over the past few years, there have been amazing breakthroughs in the anti aging skin care industry. Unbelievable examples of these breakthroughs abound on the faces of Hollywood actors, actresses, and models.

Tinseltown continues to have primary access to cutting-edge anti aging products because they understand that we live in a youth culture. Whether that is a commendable virtue is moot but true nonetheless. Many of us have seen incredible before and after shots of today's biggest celebrities and wondered how they can possibly go from drab to fab. In some cases the transformation is so extreme, the star looks like a totally different person. Is it all just cosmetic smoke and mirrors? The answer to that question is yes and no.

Celebrities know that their physical appearance can make or break their careers. So, they seek out the best skin care products money can buy. Anti aging creams are an imperative weapon in their arsenal against minimizing the signs of aging. One awe-inspiring ingredient found in some of the best anti aging products has all of Hollywood buzzing. This scientifically formulated ingredient erases fine lines and wrinkles immediately.

The "magical ingredient" is silicon dioxide. I know it's been awhile since most of us have taken a chemistry course, so here's how it works in layman's terms. Believe it or not, the human eye can not see a wrinkle. What the human eye does detect is the shadow cast by the crease of the wrinkle. Silicon dioxide is created in the form of billions of microscopic 3-dimensional crystals that fill the crease of the wrinkle. These very same 3-dimensional crystals then refract light eliminating the shadowed area resulting in the wrinkle disappearing before your very eyes.

So, there you have it. The truth behind Hollywood's secret fountain of youth has been forever exposed. You may be asking, "How do I get my hands on such a product?". Unfortunately, silicon dioxide is not a readily-available ingredient. But there is a product called LifeCell that contains this breakthrough ingredient. LifeCell also contains 5 other groundbreaking anti aging formulations. LifeCell is currently being used by Hollywood's elite, supermodels, and even European royalty as a fast-acting anti-wrinkle-cream, firming-cream, 24-hour moisturizer, age-spot reducer, corrective eye cream treatment, lip-plumper and make-up base!.

Discover LifeCell, the breakthrough skin care treatment that prevents cell damage linked to fine lines and wrinkles. Want to know which botox alternative blew away the competition...hands down? Read our anti aging wrinkle cream reviews. Also, find out which dermatologist-recommended anti aging skin cream product clearly outperformed every collagen cream on the market.

Pregnancy and Skin Care

During pregnancy the body goes through a lot of changes. One very common complaint during this time is of pregnancy skin problems. These changes are however normal and should not be termed as skin disorders. They are the marks of motherhood and are no risk to the mother or unborn baby.

You should protect your skin from the sun by staying out of it when it is hot and also by using a sunscreen of at least SPF15. Some moms-to-be develop a pregnancy mask which is a darkening of the skin around the mouth, nose and forehead which worsens when exposed to the sun.

Dry skin and pregnancy are another common combination that calls for extra moisturizing to get rid of the dryness and the accompanying itch. The moisturizing cream will help with the dry skin, however, you should seek your doctor’s advice regarding anti-itch lotions which may be required to alleviate itchy skin during pregnancy.

Using a water- based moisturizer will help pregnant women who suffer from greasy skin. As there is no treatment, it is best to keep the skin moisturized with cocoa butter as it helps minimize the development of stretch marks.

It is advisable to perform the following skin care routines during pregnancy in order to avoid pregnancy skin problems:

Cleanse your face twice daily in order to keep pores unclogged and to help with acne. However, regular acne medication should not be used during pregnancy.

Do not use soaps, which will remove oils and make the skin even drier. Due to the sensitivity of the skin, use products labeled as being non-comedogenic. Don’t forget your feet, which are often neglected, especially if you suffer from gestational diabetes. Don’t forget to drink adequate amounts of water. Taking long baths should be avoided, as they will make dry skin even drier.

Most importantly, make sure you rest as much as possible as sleep restores the skin. While it is very important to maintain the skin care routine during pregnancy, expectant mothers must always ensure that the products being used will not harm the unborn baby.

Pregnancies can be very stressful and this is mostly shown on the skin of the woman. She can have dark circles under the eyes, varicose veins, acne, brown patches on the skin and also loss of collagen and elastin.

While pregnant, be aware of the special needs and requirements of your body and skin. Special care should be taken of your condition. Listen to your body. One of the most common skin problems faced by expectant mothers is stretch marks. Most women worry about stretch marks, which become visible during the latter part of the pregnancy or after birth. Almost all expectant mothers have stretch marks which are mostly visible on the lower abdomen, hips, thighs, breasts and arms.

Stretch marks appear on the body in different colors depending on the race of the expectant mother. For example if women have a light skin color the stretch mark is pinkish and in dark skinned women they seem to be lighter than the surrounding areas of the stretch marks. Unfortunately, there is no remedy for stretch marks other than to apply some medicated lotions on the effected areas.

It is unfortunately very likely that you will suffer from some form of pregnancy skin problem but a good skin care routine with safe and tested products will help you keep your skin in the best condition that is possible.

Skin Aging - External & Internal Causes

It's almost impossible to stop your skin from aging even though we constantly try. There are two separate types of aging processes. One we get from our parents in our genes call that internal. The other is from external environmental attacks like sun, pollution, smoke, etc.

Internal Aging

This is a continuous process that begins in our 20's when skin cell production slows down. Premature aging begins in the 20's and may not show up until decades later. Possibly why so many young adults continue to ignore the warnings about sun damage to their skin. At this stage, collagen production begins to lessen and elastin begins to be less stretchy. skin cells may not shed as fast as possible after they die. Signs of this natural aging process might be:

- Fine wrinkles on the facial area and neck - Thin and transparent skin allowing blood vessels to show - Loss of underlying fat, leading to sunken cheeks and eye sockets as well as loose sagging skin on the hands and neck - Dry itchy skin - Inability to sweat sufficiently to cool the skin - Graying hair - Loss of hair or unwanted hair in other places

Hereditary factors determine how and when the aging process begins and how fast it proceeds. Any one of these symptoms of aging skin might occur first followed by others at any time. Some may show in people as early as their 20's while others may not show until 40 years of age.

External Aging

Combine the internal aging with external aging and you have a great probably of speeding up the aging process prematurely. The sun plays the biggest role, closely followed by pollution then smoking.

Sun screen. Avoiding the sun just a few minutes a day can cause a positive impact on how much premature skin aging may occur. Minor changes in skin appearance like spotted complexion, freckles, age sports. Even more sever changes can occur like leathery rough skin, loose skin and even skin cancer. The severity of skin change depends on the length of exposure over the years and the persons skin color. The actual process of change that is occurring in the skin is happening in the second layer of skin. UV light breaks down collagen and prevents new collagen from growing.

Airborne pollutants also contribute to signs of aging. Dirt and chemical particles in the air create a layer of cover over the skin and prevent oxygen from entering the cells to be used as a nutrient.

Now add cigarette smoking on top of those two and you have the trifecta of skin aging. Smoking cause biochemical changes in the body that accelerates aging. If they live long enough to view the changes in their skin, research shows that smokers will develop deep wrinkled leathery skin. This can even be a weird yellowish color. Interestingly, stopping smoking can reduce the visible signs of aging given enough time.

How to Slow the Skins Aging Process and Look Younger

Remember, the aging process can't be stopped because it is hereditary. Quitting smoking, protecting the face from pollution and sun can help prevent premature aging. Many doctors recommend wearing broad spectrum (UVA and UVB) sunscreen with a sun screen protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher year round. Don't use tanning devices and wear a hat when working outdoors. The better the skin is taken care of the younger and healthier it will continue to look.

Skincare Tips That'll Make You Glow

If you want to look great, then having great skin is a necessity. Diet and exercise play an important role when it comes to taking steps to improve the health of your skin beyond simply using good skin care products. Not only will it make you feel good about yourself, but the following steps also have many ancillary benefits when it comes to your health and happiness.

Dry Brush Exfoliation: This should be done in the morning prior to going in the shower. This gets ride of excess dead skin, thus allowing your skin to detox. This will also help with blood circulation and decreases any puffiness. While this is a great way to improve your skin condition it also provides a calming affect through the gentle pressure, which stimulates the nervous system. With the help of a bristle brush you can be on your way to a dry brush exfoliation once a day in no time.

Hydration: This causes your digestion to slow down and in turn leaves your body filled with impurities for longer than it should. You should try to drink 4 litres of water per day, at least. In order to make sure you meet this target have a bottle of water with you at all times throughout the day and you will find it's easy to get through this amount without thinking about it. Don't like drinking plain water? Consider adding flavoring to your water.

Fibre: Fibre will improve your diet and your skin at the same time. Most people know that this will make their skin glow, but few know how to realistically eat their RDA of fibre every day. Here's some tips to make sure you manage:

1. Brown is better than white. Pasta and bread both have up to ten times as much fibre in them when you opt for brown rather than white. This is an easy dietary change for most people, so at least give it a try and see if you can make the shift. 2. Eat apples, and lots of them! Apples are sweet and tasty. More importantly their skins are jam packed with fibre. Try to eat a couple of apples a day as a contribution towards your 5 fruit and vegetables.

Get exercise: If you fail to get exercise then you'll notice your muscle tone turning to flab. This has been said to lead to cellulite, acne and bloating. None of which will do your complexion any favours! That's why you have to consider incorporating an exercise plan into your lifestyle. This shouldn't be a chore, and is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.

Sugar: Sugar may be sweet, but it doesn't do your skin any favours. This is said to be one of the major causes of ageing in the skin. You can easily tackle this problem through ensuring your not having any more sugar in your diet than you have to. This means that a sprinkle of sugar on your cereal shouldn't be an option. When it comes to tea and coffee, it's easy to gradually reduce whether or not you take sugar. If you currently take 2 spoonfuls, come down to zero half a spoonful at a time.

Skin Care: How does exercising help me keep my skin healthy and attractive!

Skin care involves a lot of consciousness; there are several small things that will ensure you have a clean and clear skin that can show your good health and happiness. Radiant skin means you are healthy and doing all those things which do not just keep your body, but also your skin healthy.
Exercising not just helps maintain your body in great shape; it also helps out adequately in maintaining the skin of your health. Increase in metabolism rate speeds up blood circulation rate in your body, thus making it possible for blood to hydrate skin properly. It has been found that the properly hydrated skin is least susceptible to skin infections and other skin related problems.
Sweating during exercising makes allows throwing out of toxins and dead cells. This almost solves the problems like acne, black heads and pimples. You will readily get cleaner skin through exercising. Exercising also allows proper hydration of skin; this will help you avoid wrinkles, though this process needs to be supported by hydrating creams and lotions.
Exercising is not beneficial only at the time when you are indulging in exercising; blood circulation rate is at all time constant. That means your skin is being hydrated properly almost at all times. Exercising also makes people thirsty; therefore, they drink more water than those who do not exercise. Enough water means, the level of toxins has decreased considerably in the body.
However, for people who exercise regularly, should include a skin care routine in their lifestyle. Exercising often makes you feel exhausted and dehydrated, it is necessary that you replenish the water content in your skin. Similarly, though exercising does your skin as much good as your body, your skin may sometimes tend to dry out, this you should be able to take care through application of hydrating creams and lotions.
Skin care cannot be complete without hydrating creams or lotions. Hydrating creams provide the moisture lost due to any reason, these creams can be applied once in a day and will provide your skin with enough moisture all through the day. You can use hydrating creams that have nutrition ingredients, so that you can increase the level of nutrition you provide your skin from outside and inside.
Exercising makes your body hot, causing skin to sweat. You should ensure, your body cools off before you take a bath, this will ensure, cooling of your skin that there is no further sweat. You should take care that you do not use very hot or cold water for bathing after you finish exercising and rest, water temperature should be warm. Warm water tends to relax your nerves and allows cleansing it normally.
Providing your body with lost moisture and minerals is a must after exercising. You should try and include a cool drink that comprises of water, glucose and minerals, so that you can regain your lost energy fast. Skin care would benefit with this routine too.
Your skin would also benefit from massages or sauna, this will further relax you and the open skin pores. Massage using essential and skin care oils, will provide firmness and nutrition to the skin and relaxation to muscles.
Problems like wrinkling and acne do not bother people with high level of physical activity, skin care demands that you exercise at least for 15 minutes a day.

Cradle Cap : Not A Serious Condition, Requires Simple Care

Cradle cap appears as crusty, flaky scales, usually over the scalp of the baby. This skin condition is usually seen in infants after two months of age, and it can go up to two years of age. Although the exact medical causes are not known, many experts say that it could be caused due to overactive sebaceous glands in the new-born baby. Some other experts attribute this condition to weak digestive system in the new-born, which may render it unable to absorb the essential B-complex vitamins which help to upkeep good healthy skin.

Cradle cap is surely not due to poor hygiene or allergies. And it is not contagious either. And since it is generally not itchy, the baby may not be bothered much by it, but the only problem is their unsightly appearance. Itching might occur but only in severe cases. This condition is usually seen on the scalp. It can, however, spread onto the face, neck and down to the arms. In such a case, pediatricians refer to it as seborrheic dermatitis. This skin condition is more akin to eczema, although not exactly eczema, which is a very common problem in infants.

There are many remedies suggested to deal with cradle cap, however the most important ones among them is the use of mild medicated shampoos. And you can treat your baby yourself. It is no serious condition, but it is all about taking proper care of your baby. As you shampoo frequently, the scales tend to soften and the same can be brushed away gently with a soft comb or a soft brush.

However, in case, the rash spreads to the face and the cradle cap condition does not really improve with mild shampoos, it is a better to consult a dermatologist such that he might suggest a cortisone cream or lotion as appropriate.

Why use Natural Skin Care Products?

The natural skin care market is booming? Is this just another gimmick or are there some good reasons for a proliferation in new natural and organic products and brands?

There are 2 main advantages to using natural skin care products. Firstly as a good proportion of products applied to the skin is absorbed into the body there is a concern over the long term health issues associated with non-natural products. Secondly skin care products are generally disposed off through our water system giving rise to potential environmental problems.

Concern over long term health issues
Current safety testing looks for immediate reactions such as skin redness, rashes or stinging. It does not look for potential long-term problems in humans or in the environment.

Parabens are in almost every cosmetic product and a lot of foods and drinks. Even many so-say 'natural' products contain parabens, as manufacturers try and claim that their parabens are naturally derived. Whether a paraben is natural or synthetic doesn't matter, as it ends up being the same chemical, a paraben and is therefore as oestroginic as any other paraben.

Secondly, the parabens in cosmetics are often mixed with other ingredients like penetration enhancers to encourage the skin to absorb the product (including the parabens) being applied, which is then often left on the skin to be absorbed rather than washed off.

There are a whole host of other chemicals that are used in for various skin care products in which the full effects on the human body as yet are unknown. These include SLS, synthetic fragrances and petrochemicals amongst others.

Environmental Issues
Most consumers are aware of the damage caused by fertilisers and pesticides, but are unaware of the pollution caused by household products flushed down the drain.

Toiletries such as shampoo, deodorant and even perfume and toothpaste, which are all washed down the drain after baths and showers, can contain harmful chemicals that hang around in the water environment for a long time. These chemicals can also build up in the bodies of wildlife and some cause reproductive problems.

When we wash our hands, shower our bodies or clean our teeth invariable the water goes down the drain. But all the drainage points in our house - sinks, toilets, washing machines and baths - drain into sewers; this wastewater flows to treatment works where it is treated then returned to the water environment: our lochs, rivers and seas. Unfortunately the treatment works do not remove all of the chemicals in the water and some of these chemicals accumulate in us and in the environment.

In order to avoid these concerns the advice is to use skin care products from one of the many natural and organic brands available in the market.
